Older Single Woman Looking for Pretty Beach town in Ecuador

I'll be a 75 year old single woman in January and want to go to Ecuador then. But I'm not into hiking, mountain biking, riving rafting, etc., etc. Beaches are great and small, layed back towns where I can people watch and get into the local life. Museums are OK too; both anthropological and art, which I might find in a bigger city. What would you suggest for all of the above?

I'm a very experienced traveller. And I want nice, budget accommodations. What might I get in January, especially in a beach town where I can stay for a couple of weeks. I'll have a whole month for this trip but don't want to be travelling around a lot.

Thanks so much for your help.

Women-Only Beaches

Iman Moustafa loves the sea, but she always knew her bikini didn't conform with the rules of Islam, so each time she took a dip she would quickly cover up and pray on the beach. The guilt spoiled the fun. "I felt as if I were fooling God," said Moustafa, 25.

So now they have women-only beaches.

Women let down their hair and layers of clothes to reveal swimsuits or tight shorts, rubbed on tanning oil and lay on the soft sand. Some abandoned themselves to the blaring Arabic pop music, swaying to the rhythmic beats. Moustafa removed her head scarf and traded her baggy skirt and top for a flower-adorned bikini. The beach is screened off by reeds, with female gatekeepers to keep out men and cameras.

Anna Vlad-Song: "Dreaming Of You"

Woman of baeches only muslim

People visit beaches for the sun, the sea and the waves. There are men who prefer to wear skimpy swimming trunks and then there are those who would rather wear shorts. For women, there is more variety in bathing suits: one-piece, two-piece, bikini, tankini, etc.

And then there are those who are different...

For whatever reasons they may have, there are some who prefer to go au naturelle. And since not everyone is comfortable with this set-up, these people who would rather go nude while suntanning or swimming have to go to a different, more isolated beach area.

And then, there are those who require a different kind of "environment".

In consideration of Muslim women whose religion dictates that they are covered up when in the presence of men, a new kind of isolated beach area is being set-up. "a seaside resort in Italy is to create women-only beaches in order to accommodate the growing number of Muslim tourists."

Starting next month, female Muslims will be given the chance to bathe comfortably in Riccione, an Adriatic resort south of Rimini. There will be partitions to ensure that these ladies are out of the sight of men. I guess, we can safely assume that all staff on the beach area will be composed of women, as well.

An interesting development in the tourism industry.
