TV GRAPEVINE
Ekta’s dream man!
Ekta Kapoor may not look like the archetypal businesswoman but she sure is an astute one. And her incongruous appearance with a gemstone on each finger and the iconic tikka, only adds to her mystique. Popkorn tonight brings an exclusive interview with Ekta, as the lady speaks out about her beliefs, pet peeves, passion, and hold your breath, her fantasy man. Ekta will also confess that her ideal man is Sujal’s character played by Rajeev Khandelwal. While most already know of her interest in karma and spiritual science, the show will have her real life guruji explain why her enemies will never have their way! The reason apparently is that she has the blessing of a combination of two major numerological forces. Figure out the when, what and how of Ekta’s life tonight at 8 pm on Zoom.
Tear apart
Deepa Parab, who plays the lead in Reth, doesn’t need glycerine at all. The tears that she sheds on screen are all natural! She says that the scenes in her show are so emotionally charged that she doesn’t need any external influence. Though Deepa’s saving money for the producers, there’s worry that too many tear-jerker scenes in a day will give her swollen eyes at the end of the day!
Competition begins at home
Nigaar Z Khan, the popular vamp on TV, and her model sister Gauhar are going to compete with each other. They are doing two separate comedy plays releasing back to back in May 2005. Nigaar will star in the English comedy See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil and Gauhar will be seen in in a Hindi play Kya Kare Control Nahi Hota. By the way both the plays are written and directed by Paritossh Painter and produced by Nirav Parekh.
Only paan no gyaan
Main Office Tere Aangan Ki is wrapping up next month. The shooting schedule has just come to an end and the actors say they will miss all the fun they’ve had on the sets. Rakesh Paul tells us about a particular ‘paan’ interest that they all had : “After lunch everyday we were served this delicious paan. All actors would look to finish their close-up shots before lunch so that they could enjoy the paan. Because those who had their shots scheduled soon after lunch couldn’t afford to have the stains on their faces. It was fun with each of us trying hard to get our shots done early.”
Last laugh
Doctor drama Ayushmaan will wind up next month. Surely waning audience interest was the main reason for the show being pulled out. Is Vinod Singh having the last laugh? Just to remind you, Vinod was the one who played the character initially and was later replaced for losing his cool and turning violent once on the sets.
Yet another change
After Aly Khan and Iravati Harshe there’s another change in K Street Pali Hill on Star Plus. Vipul Gupta, who was playing Dhrone in the show, has been replaced by Vikas Sethi. The producers apparently weren’t too happy with Vipul. No, it wasn’t his tantrums or anything of the sort; just that the producers felt they needed somebody else to enact this character which was turning very important.
Time struck
It is tough love for Shahid Kapoor and lady love Kareena, given their hectic schedules. But they keep the love going strong by meeting up even for as little as 10 minutes whenever they are in Mumbai.
