Acne Marks
Acne, all of we have experience of it, which is a yield of skin pores when become plugged with oils and dead skin cells, become a perfect destination for bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes) to grow, and create red bums and puss filled cavity. Acne mark is nothing but a reminder of the acne, unforgettable sign of pimples developed after the acne go to disappear.
The hair follicles, or pores, in your skin contain sebaceous glands (also called oil glands). These glands make sebum, which is work as a lubricating oil for your hair and skin. Acne starts from the clogging of these pores with excessive sebum with dust, dead skin cells and bacterial-organisms, result in the follicles with red bump, puss filled cavity, and end to marks that are called as acne marks. There is different type of acne like blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, or cysts, observed in the puberty, mild, moderately severe acne, severe acne etc. Mild types are those, which refer to blackheads, whiteheads that observed in almost all people in the world. Moderate severe form, developed due to inflammation. Red inflamed acne called as a papules and centrally white red acne called as a pustules. The name indicates the severity of the last form, which becomes to result skin nodules, filled with pus. This form is developed under the skin and very painful to a person, which leaves a permanent mark to the skin. Most serious marks are caused by the more severe forms of acne, with nodules more likely to leave permanent sign than other types of acne.
Tissue loss is most common reason for acne marks. During development of acne, tissue losses take places that induce the acne marks like ice-pick marks, depressed marks, soft marks, atrophic macules, etc. Acne also it is a result of healing process which comes into affect after the person encounters acne. There are different types of acne and produces the different types of marks. Ice Prick are those having the precipitate due to shallow pores, hard or sot in nature and looks like the wound the occur from the ice edges. Depressed fibrotic marks are tiny wounds or craters formed on the facial area resulted due to loss of tissue. Superficial and deep soft marks have penetrated to deep skin with variable sizes. Atrophic macules distributed the face with a different parts of body skin. On face they are small but larger on the other parts of the body. Softer and wrinkled in nature, have bluish or violet color on white skin due to underlying blood vessels. Follicular macular atrophy occurs on the chest or back, which are small, white, soft lesions, grow above the surface of skin with white in color.
There are different ways to deal with the acne types and to prevent the developing acne scars. The cosmetic and the pharmaceutical; market has lots of products, which are useful to prevent acne / acne marks and or to cure it. Dermatologist or a physician will help you to control these and reduce the chances of development of the permanent marks to you skin. Depending on the severity of the acnemarks, the doctor or dermatologist may also suggest therapeutic medications, a chemical lotion, or micro dermabrasion to help improve the appearance of marked areas. Surgery is a last way for permanent relief from the acne marks. There are other treatments like laser treatments, which can be available at the dermatologist clinic. The laser removes the damaged top layer of skin and tightens the middle layer, leaving skin smoother. A laser therapy is take short time to process. Another method for treating acne marks with simple instrument which rubbing down the skin layer with marks and put left the new skin layer beyond. The new smooth skin layer replaces the abraded skin layer and removes the marks permanently. It may take about ten day days to heal properly. Fractional laser therapy, modern techniques, useful to remove the marks. This type of treatment works at a deeper level than laser resurfacing or dermabrasion, because fractional laser therapy doesn’t wound the top layer of tissue, healing time is shorter. Fractional laser therapy is quite costly.
Prevention is better than cure, just like this in case of acne; you should follow the golden rules as below like,
- Wash your face twice a day with mild soap and water in a circular motion and gently massage when you’re done.
- Stop squeezing acnes and puss, because you secret out the dirty and bacteria infection to further part of the skin, infect more part and cause more swelling and redness - red or brown mark to form. Sometimes marks can last for many months and or will stay forever.
- Avoid make-ups which can cause more secretion of the sebum to your skin.
- Apply OTC lotions containing benzoyl peroxide which will decrease oil and bacteria after consulting with your dermatologist.
- Avoid touching to your face with your fingers or leaning your face on objects that collect sebum and skin residue, spread the bacteria that cause pores to become inflamed and irritated.
- To keep bacteria at away, wash your hands before applying anything to your face, such as treatment creams or makeup.
- Remove your makeup before you go to sleep. Keep hair clean and out of your face to prevent additional dirt and oil from clogging your pores.
- Throw away old makeup that smells or looks different from when you first bought it.
- If you wear glasses or sunglasses, make sure you clean them frequently to keep oil from clogging the pores around your eyes and nose; use try lotions and oil-free makeup.
