Rose McGowan might be an up-and-coming
young actress

About
Rose McGowan |
|
Appearing as a cross
between Betty Boop's evil sister and a very curvaceous Hell's Angel, actress
Rose McGowan made an undeniably distinct impression on Hollywood in the late
'90s. With her sharp tongue and brash sensuality, McGowan has been a source
of both titillation and discomfort to an industry that still hasn't quite
figured out what to do with women who are both unapologetically smart and
sexual. She was nominated for a 1996 Independent Spirit Award for Best Debut
Performance for her role as Amy Blue in THE DOOM GENERATION.
we like the most about Rose McGowan is her personality. She is very
straightforward, and though she has played the bitchy roles on screen to
perfection, in real life she is a softie who feels constant guilt for not
being more generous. The voluptuous Rose has caught many-a-man off guard
with her bad girl looks. The fact that she has a killer body certainly
hasn't hurt her cause, but what is really attractive is her devilish
reputation, even if it isn't quite deserved.
"I am going to be pretty kick a$$ by
the time I'm thirty, and I can't wait!!" -Rose McGowan

Rose McGowan's Birthday |
Rose McGowan was
born in Florence, Italy, on September 5, 1973. The daughter of an Irish
artist and a French writer, Rose was raised in the Italian chapter of the
Children of God cult.
The McGowan family (including 6 children, with Rose as the second oldest)
relocated to Oregon when Rose was ten years old. Five years later, Rose left
the commune and took off to live on her own, supporting herself with several
odd jobs.

Rose McGowan as Actress |
|
Her first acting
opportunity was in 1992's Encino Man. After that, she waited another three
years before being in another movie. Her next film was Gregg Araki's Doom
Generation. Araki had met her outside a gym while she was in LA to attend
arts school, and he decided to cast her in his Sundance entry. Although much
of Rose's fame has come from her more commercial films like Biodome and
Scream, most of her roles have been in independant films. While McGowan
enjoys making movies, her first love is traditional art. Rather than creatin
art (like her father), she would rather be a curator and revive museums. She
feels that museums have become unfriendly to younger people, and dreams of
opening them up so that the average person can connect with them. McGowan
appeared in two back-to-back movies with fellow rising star Ben Affleck.
First came her turn as the girl who tries to seduce a very excited Jeremy
Davies in 1997's Going All the Way, followed by her role in the ski slope
thriller Phantoms (1998). 1999 saw her take the lead in the independent film
Jawbreaker, in which she starred with Rebecca Gayheart. As Alpha Bitch
Courtney Shane, McGowan excelled in a role that was equal parts vamp, tramp,
and camp. The film met with mixed reviews and lackluster box-office but
helped to cement McGowan's position as one of the most watchable guilty
pleasures of the late '90s.
