Ekta kapoor serials bindi

My take is Ekta Kapoor has a controlling stake in some Saree/Bindi/Garish makeup manufacturing business.
Tried watching two such shows in a row and got really confused because some of these things have almost the same star cast. And they kept flashing back to some episode just before the universe was created and then back again to current episode time.
As for the vamps-Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned in episode 3 of a saans bahu soap.

Ekta's serials project larger than life characters and the complications & misunderstanding which continue without any end to them are proving to be a minus point for her. they are ceasing to relate to the lives of viewers. There is too much of masala and the kind of enviironment in these serials in reality do not exist to the extent being potrayed by her. By dressing up the female characters in traditional garbs with bindi and jewellery showcasing the values of India doesnt hold the viewers to the seat. The viewers require more than the outer appeal, something that will help to relate to the characters and firm their beliefs and opinions. world doesnt live only by deceit or the kinds of situtions shown by Ekta in her serials.

Ok, stop it. I’m this close to killin’ you with my bare hands. Can we just go shopping and get it over with? I need a jewellery set and bindi to match my new yellow saree.”

…to be continued.

Confused? Yep, I was too. I happened to catch one scene from one of Ekta Kapoor’s giga-serials and this is what happened. Well, in my own words that is. For added effect, please translate above lines into Hindi and add a couple of expression-less faces to go with the dialogues.Isn’t it fun? Watching a soap mid-scene or worse, mid-sentence? I sure find it fun ‘coz for the world of me, I don’t know who the good guys are or who the bad guys are! I don’t know who killed whom or who’s plotting to kill whom. I don’t know who actually stole the chain to put the blame on the ghar-ki-bahu (daughter-in-law of the house) and send her out. But I do love watching those huge jewellery ensembles, those designer sarees, the curtains in the set…all at the cost of what? A few minutes of leaving your brains in the deep freeze. Considering the fact that the brain probably works more in the deep freeze, that shouldn’t be an issue

How can one call a lady decently dressed, wearing sindoor, bindi, mangalsutra and caring for the family regressive? APARA

Apara: True, like many criticise us for doing serials such as Kyunki... , calling them regressive. If you look at it professionally, a role is a role and as an actor you have to make everything believable. But I wonder how you can call being decently dressed, wearing sindoor, bindi, mangalsutra and caring for the family regressive.
