Pucker up
Clothes, hair and make-up take inspiration from the 1940's this season. Gucci (left) went the whole hog and teamed red lips with rollered hair for a sophisticated yet provocative look, while the perfect pout was also seen at Roberto Cavalli and Vera Wang . This is a trend always popular with celebrities who can't resist the Hollywood starlet look - think Scarlett Johansson and Dita Von Teese. As seen on these two, intense red lips immediately add allure to any outfit and look great with a figure hugging silhouette. Make the look work for you by pairing it with simple eye make-up that doesn't take too much attention away from the lips, or make you look like you're wearing a lot of make up. Red lips are an easy and effective way to add colour to your Autumn/Winter wardrobe.
Flick It
Beauty on the catwalks has come over all Amy Winehouse on us with variations on the thick and flicked liquid eyeliner look. Dior went for a dramatic version complete with long false lashes, while the models at Prada (left) had a more subtle, feline look that reminded us of Angelina Jolie in her flirtier, pre-Pitt days. Either way, flicked eyeliner is a great way to emphasise your eyes and get a striking and sexy look.
The eyeliner look can take some practice and a steady hand. Our experts recommend you don't aim to draw one continuous line but join up several shorter lines, and use a cotton bud to clear up any mistakes. Get involved in this retro trend; beehive optional.
Pale and Interesting
The natural look can be seen at the likes of Marni , Giambattista Valli and Burberry (left) this Autumn/Winter. To complement the clothes that are in earthy tones of warm browns, greens and greys, the models wore minimal make up in soft shades. Pastel colours were used on cheeks, eyes and lips in matching shades. For Autumn's prettiest beauty palette, reach for subtle pinks, blush and peach. The resulting look is the illusion of make-up that fuses with your natural beauty, with a natural glow.
