SEVENTH INDIAN TELLY AWARD 2007> JAY BHANUSHALI

Acting is the one art you can't be caught doing. Joy of doing the work is art.

Art of acting is moving the audience, present a creditable human being. While growing up, I always thought of being very creative. Acting can be creative as well.

"I just really enjoyed it.”

I gained a lot of experience in the few years. I keep learning everything new! "When I first started, I thought, 'Oh, this one will be easy. Now any role I approach, I think of it as the most difficult thing I've ever done, so I can get as much out of it as possible,"

"Acting is what you make it, as with everything. It's like people calling it a school. You can stay here and can get an education.”

"If you have something real to offer, you have a much better chance at making it." First of all I have to thank god and my parents for what I'm now.

Last but not least, I have to also thank my family, fans and friends.

I should also thank Mehak, Shweta, Pooja, who had spent enormous time to maintain and develop this site.

In the end I appreciate you all for visiting my website and would ask you to sign in my guest book.

Jai Bhanushali

How my Sunday starts…
I wake up around 10.30 AM! It's not late naa?

My breakfast includes…
Protein milk shake, bread butter

My Lunch includes…
I'm a foodie. I have four chapattis. I love paneer ki sabzi, steam rice and dal after that I prefer to have juice, especially strawberry.

In the Afternoon…
I sleep for at least 2 hours. If I am not sleeping I listen to music, basically I like hip-pop, romantic songs. My favourite song is from the movie Fanaa - "Chand Sifarish".

My Evening…
I like to party out with my friends. I often go to Poison Club in Bandra, Ra in Lower Parel. Among the television stars I like to go with Naman Shaw (Pushkar from Kasam Se), Ali Merchant(Bharat from Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii). Both these are my best buddies.

My Dinner…
I occasionally go to restaurants, but my favorite restaurant is Urban Tadka and Mainland China in Andheri. Both these have Punjabi and Chinese food. At my home in Ghatkopar, my mom makes simple Punjabi food which includes rajmah chawal and chole bature.

His face stares down from billboards across the city for Star’s new show, Kayamath. Though he may be relatively unknown, Jay Bhanushali has done a bit of modelling before the arc lights beckoned. Jai is Balaji’s latest discovery, and plays the lead character, Neev Shergill, in Kayamath.

"This is my first brush with acting,” says Jay, who is currently seen in the Lays wafer ads with Saif Ali Khan. He received a call from Balaji out of the blue. “They noticed me in a Rediff ad that I’d done, and one of the creative heads got in touch with me. I did a series of screen tests with them and landed a plum role in Kayamath.”

Smiles to go

He adds that it was his smile that did the trick. “At least that’s what I was told! Apparently, Ekta Kapoor loved my smile, so that was what clinched the deal. That apart, I worked hard for the look tests.’’

A resident of Ghatkopar, Jay is a Mumbai boy. “I studied at the BPM School in Khar, as I formerly lived in Juhu. I later completed my graduation through correspondence,” he claims.

His family is not connected to the entertainment world in any way. “I am the only one who always had this — as they say — filmi keeda, in me. I did not want to do a nine-to-five job. I began modelling and then Kayamath came my way. So it was a case of one thing leading to another.”

About his role in the late- night drama, he says, “My character Neev is a Casanova. What is characteristic of him is his sense of humour.

There are some wonderful cracks that I make in the show. Neev believes in living life king-size and takes each day as it comes.”

Fame fever

Though it is barely a few days since the show began, Jay has already been getting a taste of celebrity. “I was at the petrol pump when one of the attendants told me to reverse my car with care as there was another vehicle at the rear. He laughed and told me, “Nahin to kayamath aa jayengi!”

At the moment, shooting for this late-night drama leaves him barely time for anything else. “At the moment, there is no energy left to pursue anything.”

Jay is single. So is he ready to mingle? “Where is the time?” he laughs.

Jay Bhanushali

Did you to plan to be an actor?
No. I didn't plan to be an actor. It was my mother and sister who wanted me to be an actor. I completed my HSC and wanted to have fun, so I tried my luck at acting.

What is your role in Kayamath?
Kayamath is a passionate love story with Panchi Bora as my co-star. Other casts in the serial are Mohnish Behl, Prachi Shah, Ejaz Khan, Shabbir Ahluwallia, etc.

What is Kayamath about?
Kayamath is about people who believe in love and romance and people who do not.

Are you work on any film at present?

Jay Bhanushali:
"I am a naughty Satan. Yes, one needs to be a little bit bad and practical to survive competition. Every actor is a very mean guy, he may not accept it. For example there are a few shots and their face is not visible, they will crib about the fact that … no, my angle is not like this; my face is not being seen." Would you not want to hoard the screen? "I love the centre stage, I want to be the main person who is doing all the funny scenes the emotional parts, in between I was doing 12 scenes in an episode and I was in all of them. I was very trilled with that and I am very mean in that sense I should be every scene of the serial as Kayamath is my serial!"

Jai Bhanushali (Neev) goes to Siddhivinayak temple!
Jai Bhanushali who plays the fun-loving Casanova Neev (Kayamath) has a spiritual side to him that few know about.

The lead actor of Kayamath went to Siddhivinayak temple this Thursday to show his gratefulness to the Lord Ganapati for making his show popular and him a household face.

"I have visited Siddhivinayak several times before and I'm a great devotee of Ganeshji. When I was signed for Kayamath in the lead role I walked for 20 kilometers barefoot from my house at Ghatkoper to Siddhivinayak temple. I did this with the prayer that my show would do well and that I would become a success. I also made a mannat to God that the next time I come back to the temple I would come in a car. My prayers have been answered; the show has been appreciated and Neev, my character, has many female fans. Now after a very hectic schedule I am getting the time to visit this beautiful temple again. Moreover I have come here in my car!" said a very grateful Jai. We can only hope Lord Ganesha continues to fulfill all of his wishes.

Jai character Neev in Kayamath is a flirty, playful guy who may have many girlfriends but also cares a lot for his family and friends. Even though he is a ladies man he only truly loves his best friend Prachi (Panchi Bohra).

Jay Bhanushali

A Mumbai boy, Jay says that he was never interested in studies. “My father wanted me to do a stable job. I hated studies so much that I didn’t even attend college. I completed my graduation through correspondence!”

But now he charms viewers with his witty one-liners as Neev in ‘Kayamath’ (Star Plus). As far as his resemblance to actor Hiten Tejwani is concerned, Jay says, “It is great to be compared to Hiten. But honestly, I consider myself an average actor. I owe it to luck for having made it till here.” Now that he’s found a firm footing in TV, he’s aiming for the sky
