The girl who said no to Ekta Kapoor

Girl Isha waits for meaty roles

Like it or lump it, this is Isha Koppikar's mantra. And she makes no bones of sticking by it. Isha hypnotised half the nation with Khallas. Ishq Samandar added further proof that she
was the latest seductress on the Bollywood block. Offers came flooding in, but all of which was shown the door. "I did not come here to become an item girl. I am here to do some good work," she says firmly. "Bollywood is notorious for type casting actors. I was keen that it doesn't happen to me. That's the reason I said no to most offers" she informs. Though it was a tough job refusing the tempting offers, she stuck to her decision and ended up with a few lead roles. Expect she wasn't successful. And then the Bhor project happened? "I was in Mauritius shooting for Girlfriend. Choreographer Bosco-Ceaser came to me with this project, I found it interesting, so took it up. Besides, you can't say no to everything. At the end of the day, it's my bread and butter. I live by the philosophy 'Dikhenge toh bikenge', says Isha with a smile. How true, Isha! But is it Khallas to item numbers? "Well, pretty much, unless some thing sensational comes up. Bollywood is anyways hard on heroines with few meaty roles in circulation. So my focus is on soaring brownie points as an actress," Isha says upfront. Now, one wonders how far she can wait for those meaty roles to come her way and say no to tempting item numbers. If she is to be believed, she wouldn't mind doing the interesting ones. After all, she has to be seen in order to get those meaty roles. All the best Isha!

Sandhya: Ekta Kapoor doesn't matter

Prachi Desai's elimination and her subsequent inclusion in the wild card round seems to havegiven reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa its first controversy. Here's how it goes: In last few weeks two popular faces on television, Prachi Desai and Sudha Chandran were voted out of the show. Now it seems through a special wild card round, the two will be given a chance take another shot at staying in the competition. The buzz is that since the two have a huge fan following on prime time television, having either of them back will help sustain the ratings.

According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror , this has led to a disagreement of sorts between the contestants. The report suggests actress Sandhya Mridul has been leading an anti-Prachi camp and has been very cold with actress since then. But the Page 3 star denies all such allegations.

"I have better things to do than make camps on a reality show. Frankly no one has time to indulge in these petty politics and what has been written is the figment of a messed up journo's infertile imagination," Sandhya said.

She says she has her own frank opinion and doesn't need anyone's support to voice her stand. As for the controversy Sandhya takes a dig at the rival show Nach Balliye 3 . Sandhya adds, "Our show doesn't have any trash so we all have a certain class in our behaviour. Since there is no drama to report about on Jhalak people are reporting fake stories".

The report suggests that Sandhya is not on very good terms with Ekta Kapoor - who is close to both the concerned participants and is settling her own scores. But Sandhya denies this saying, "Ekta makes no difference to me. We were never close enough to have drifted apart now. I had done Koshish years back and I have been offered K-soaps regularly. But I wasn't keen on soaps. Anyways Ekta's equation with her stars doesn't matter to me".

Sandhya clarifies that she is not against Prachi or Sudha in particular. She has a problem with the sudden change in format of the show, as a wild card round wasn't a part of the original plan. Also if there is such a change she says even others such as Mini, Mika and Cyrus must get a chance. But she claims to be on good terms with Prachi even after expressing her reservations. Sandhya compares the wild card entry to giving Sachin Tendulkar a special chance to score a century after getting out in the 90s. "Not done," she makes a point.

But what if Sandhya was ever offered a wild card entry?

Well, if we take her word for it she says such a favour would have "embarrassed" her. "I would have liked to return purely on my merit."

Whatever be the truth, Sandhya seems to be getting the hang of reality television, as she is making a noise at the right place at the right time.
